Jogen Chowdhury : Couple 1

Printed under the close supervision of artist Jogen Chowdhury, ‘Couple 1’ features his iconic technique of distortion and emotive quality. Often known as the master of lines, this work consists of uninterrupted lines and stylized expression. The figures take centre stage in his artworks, prominently positioned in the foreground and captivating the viewer’s attention.

Born in 1939 in Faridpur, Jogen Chowdhury completed his graduation in Fine Art from the Government College of Arts and Crafts, Kolkata (1960), where he received a gold medal in watercolour painting. He later studied in France from 1965 to 1967 on a Government Scholarship at Ecole Nationale Superieure des Beaux-Arts, Paris.
