Printed under the close supervision of artist Jogen Chowdhury, ‘Seated Nude from the Back’ embodies his iconic technique of distortion, emotive quality and uninterrupted lines. Often known as the master of lines, his works are a coalescence of traditional imagery rendered in contemporary manner.
Born in 1939 in Faridpur, Jogen Chowdhury completed his graduation in Fine Art from the Government College of Arts and Crafts, Kolkata (1960), where he received a gold medal in watercolour painting. He later studied in France from 1965 to 1967 on a Government Scholarship at Ecole Nationale Superieure des Beaux-Arts, Paris.
