Printed under the close supervision of artist Jogen Chowdhury, ‘Wounded’ features the figure of a woman with a scar reflecting a sense of isolation and pain. Having experienced the terrors of partition, his figures often channel the agony of the human condition and echo the personal and collective consciousness.
Born in 1939 in Faridpur, Jogen Chowdhury completed his graduation in Fine Art from the Government College of Arts and Crafts, Kolkata (1960), where he received a gold medal in watercolour painting. He later studied in France from 1965 to 1967 on a Government Scholarship at Ecole Nationale Superieure des Beaux-Arts, Paris.
